Organization whose members include the designers seemed think that ‘unique’ Johnny Depp style is pretty awesome. So CFDA decided to give the title on the movie stars of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. Award for Depp, will be conducted at the conferring party June 4, 2012 at Lincoln Center for the Performing Art’s Alice Hall. The event will be hosted by Seth Meyers.

Announcement of Johnny Depp style as the winners was made on Thursday (3/15/2012) ago by CFDA Chairman, Diane Von Furstenberg and CEO, Steven Kolb. In his statement, Kolb explained the reasons to choose Johnny Depp style and the other winners.

“This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CFDA. We’ll see how important role of CFDA Fashion Awards in promoting the fashion at America,” said Kolb. “Nominees this year shows the importance of the influence of American design. We can not wait to reward to the best talent who work today,” he added.

Johnny Depp style was chosen as a fashion icon of the year nominees beat the other guy. Competitors from that handsome actor is Billy Reid, Patrik Ervel and Simon Spurr.

In addition to fashion icon of the year for Johnny Depp style, CFDA also gives other awards. For womenswear designer of the year, nominator is Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen through their label The Row, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez from Proenza Schouler and Marc Jacobs. While the nominees accessory design of the year is Alexander Wang, Reed Krakoff and McCollough and Hernandez.
